About Aaron Crowe

I've worked as a journalist for 22 years, most recently as an assigning editor and copy editor at the Contra Costa Times in Walnut Creek, CA. Some of my job skills include: Seeing both sides of an issue; excellent writing, editing and reporting skills; analyzing issues in depth; working with different people to achieve a common goal; working well under pressure. I managed multiple projects at the same time and am known for getting things done. Some of that management has included working as a weekend editor at the Contra Costa Times in Walnut Creek, CA, where I worked with editors from Photo, Graphics, Metro, Sports, Features, Business and other departments to ensure that the weekend newspapers had excellent content and that everything would be done on time.

For the last 13 years I've worked as a copy editor and assistant metro editor, also called an assigning editor, at the Contra Costa Times. I've supervised a team of reporters and also worked as weekend editor at the Times, overseeing four newspapers and weekend metro coverage. I've also overseen two weekly newspapers for the Times, earning CNPA awards, and also working with reporters on daily stories while keeping the weeklies going full-steam.

I've also worked as a copy editor and reporter at the Fairfield Daily Republic, and as a reporter at the Tracy Press and Ridgecrest Daily Independent.

In addition to writing freelance stories for Spot.us about solar power, a follo to an oil spill in the bay, and Bay Area journalism, I've written for an engineering firm about how global warming is forcing utilities to deal with drought and flooding problems. Read the story.
