"The delay of the scheduled execution signals the extent of legal chaos," states Natasha Minsker, Death Penalty Policy Director at the ACLU of Northern California.

Issuing a statement on Monday at 5:02pm on their blog, The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) declares the execution "reset," following a temporary reprieve issued today by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The reason given, "to allow condemned inmate Brown to exhaust all appeals under the law."

It also begs mention that the State of California's supply of one of the drugs used in the three-drug cocktail, sodium thiopental, is set to expire just three hours after this rescheduled execution date and time.
