When I lived on the East Coast I covered a lot of stories about juvenile prisons in West Virginia. Despite why they're in prison, we've got to make sure prisoners have a voice if their basic rights are to be respected.
I'm looking forward to this article and hope to share it around. good work!
Bernice. I wish you the best with this work. Such an important topic. The Bay Area is certainly a great place to be in for prison issue reporting. Look forward to seeing the work.

Bernice,
This is one of the aspects of crime that does not occur to the lame stream media and never gets covered. The role health care or rather the lack of health plays in crime should be part of the reform debate going on now. You are correct when you say that our prisons have higher rates of addiction, mental health , and communicable diseases. Begs the question are we imprisoning people for having these problems. There is no tie in plan or COBRA for those coming out of prison and with insurance being tied to employment it is not even a possibility for most after release.
I am part of a group developing a radio show call Jaws of Justice on KKFI-FM in Kansas City and am looking to your blog as a resource for us. Keep up the good work and when we finally win a spot we would love to have you on to talk about the work you are doing and the blog.
